Coding

Coding takes up an embarrassingly large portion of my life. I'm constantly starting new projects and struggling to finish them, but it's all helpful for learning new things. My favorite languages right now are Go, TypeScript, and C.

My main projects right now are a web platform that I want to turn into an actual marketable product, an ongoing programming language project that I've been working on in some form for forever, and a personal news reader that uses AI to scrub and rank stories for me to read.

Opinion on AI: it's an ethical shitstorm that makes the world a worse place. Also, if I don't use it I'll just fall behind people who do without having really enacted any change. So I do use it, but as a new technology not as a way to replace people.

 Tricks

I can currently do these tricks!!!!! But I'm always learning more!!!

Management Skills

I've worked with a lot of people in management or leadership positions that I really look up to. They've really pushed me and helped me throughout my career and I'd love to be able to be that kind of person for others.

There's a couple books I've been reading that have been super helpful. One is Radical Candor: Be a Kickass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity by Kim Scott. It focuses more on human connection and persuasion skills, and driving results by pushing people on your team to grow as individuals. It's really helped me to reconcile my interest in management with my anticapitalist values.

I also recommend Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. I don't support the US military, nor the ideologies of the authors!!!!! ⋋_⋌ It's not a fun read because I have to read this VERY critically, but there's a lot of helpful tools in here especially about how to be goal-oriented, look out for your team, and work without insecurities getting in the way.

Drawing

I have a lot to learn, but it's better to post something than nothing! I'm using Procreate right now and following lots of YouTube tutorials. I'd really love to be able to make a webcomic someday.

Weightlifting

I've been doing weightlifting in some form or another since I was a teenager. I used to focus on strength training to max out my squad, bench, and deadlift (SBD). But then I started transitioning (transfem) and my goals changed pretty drastically lol.

Now I focus on aesthetics, functional strength to get better at the things I actually do in day-to-day life, and flexibility. But my numbers are still respectable for someone who's been on HRT for like 5 years now, methinks.
